About

About

Third Day were originally formed by vocalist Mac Powell and acoustic guitarist Mark Lee. The duo added bassist Tai Anderson and drummer David Carr from another local band, and recorded some demos. Third Day’s live shows gradually built a loyal fan base, and just after lead guitarist Brad Avery joined, the band signed to Gray Dot Records. Their eponymous debut followed in 1996. In February 2008 the band announced the departure of Avery.

The members of Third Day had been given a platform and it’s a responsibility they took seriously. Of course, the band loved to perform and entertain, but most importantly they wanted to offer hope and encouragement. “If there is any over arching theme on the record (Miracle), it’s about pressing on and holding onto faith in the midst of doubt,” said David Carr.

To celebrate their 25th anniversary, Third Day released the back-to-their-roots album, Revival, on August 4, 2017. They totally released 13 studio albums during the years. The band won 4 Grammys and was nominated another 8 times. They also won 24 GMA Dove Awards including Artist of the Year in 2000 and Group of the year in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.

On March 2, 2018, Third Day announced their farewell with 12 shows as a last chance to see them live. The farewell tour eventually expanded to 20 concerts. June 27, 2018, in Denver, Colorado was the final show.
